Selected Projects

Integrated Maintenance Planning | Sydney Trains, NSW

Envision is currently utilised by Sydney Trains to optimise and schedule rolling-stock maintenance across their entire diesel and electric fleets. With a live interface to SAP, Envision forecasts and determines optimal maintenance plans considering a wide range of constraints including timetable, supply chain, labour, facility availability and competencies. Embedded in the planning team, Envision is linked to internal business intelligence platforms such as Tableau to provide live reporting and analysis.

Sydney Metro West TSMO (Trains, Systems, Maintenance and Operations) Bid Support

Envision was utilised to support a major bid for the Sydney Metro West project, enabling the bidding team to model and determine optimal fleet sizes and maintenance facilities required to deliver the proposed timetables. Technical Maintenance Plans were utilised to model complete life-cycle requirements and validate these against the reference designs provided by TfNSW. The software's powerful scenario modelling capabilities allowed the team to iteratively tweak and refine the proposed facility design, running multiple what-if scenarios to identify optimal configurations. This analysis enabled the identification of capital cost savings opportunities while maintaining operational performance, ultimately supporting the development of the most cost-effective bid proposal.

Fast Rail Business Case | TfNSW, NSW

For the development of the Fast Rail Business Case, Envision was utilised to determine optimal operational and maintenance facility requirements. This included maintenance, stabling and station platform requirements. Detailed modelling was carried out on a minute-by-minute basis using a wide range of operational parameters including run times, turnaround times, dwell times, and technical maintenance plans. What-if scenarios were carried out to determine the optimal balance between capital infrastructure costs and operational outcomes, informing the business case.

Infrastructure TMP (Technical Maintenance Plan) Optimisation | Sydney Trains, supporting Aurecon

Think Transit utilised the Envision platform to support Aurecon in a review of Sydney Trains' Infrastructure Technical Maintenance Plans. Points defect data and historical failure rates were modelled to determine the future impact of changes to the TMPs on infrastructure performance and reliability.

Fleet and Facilities Modernisation Project | Transport for Wales, UK

Envision was utilised by Transport for Wales to model their complete network to determine the optimal locations for investment. This involved modelling maintenance and stabling activities to determine bottlenecks and validate proposed investment decisions across the entire Wales rail network.

MTMS (More Trains More Services) Facilities Upgrade | Sydney Trains, NSW
